COIL: Digital Collaboration and Blog Writing
Students from The University of British Columbia and Helwan University create blog articles on MAMBO’s digital collection, enhancing art education and global dialogue.

May 2024, Vancouver, Cairo and Bogotá – In 2024, our second Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project brought together students from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Helwan University, along with the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art (MAMBO) to delve into the museum’s digitised collection and the current exhibition “Viceversa.” This initiative aims to innovate art education by integrating digital tools and fostering international collaboration.

The project focused on producing blog articles about MAMBO’s digitalised collection, offering students a unique opportunity to engage with art in a contemporary context. The articles, based on a comprehensive virtual tour provided by MAMBO, explore the museum’s collection from diverse perspectives, contributing fresh insights and interpretations to the global dialogue on art and museum practices.

The resulting blog posts will be featured on the Community section of this website, expanding the reach of MAMBO’s collection and enriching the educational experience for readers worldwide. This project highlights the transformative potential of COIL in art education, demonstrating how digital platforms can enhance learning and cross-cultural understanding.

By facilitating this collaborative effort, we reinforce our commitment to global citizenship and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), advancing innovative educational practices and promoting international dialogue.
